In our society they are taught to swallow their emotions and project strength outwards. This often leads men and amab people to resort to violence, as shown by the staggering number of femicides around the world. The project deals with different magnitudes of this gender based violence, intimidation and suppression of emotions in the context of the Netherlands and Austria. These topics are brought to a male public through poster series, a video installation and a collection of enamel pins. Lynn Margulis coined the term symbiogenesis to describe the evolutionary power of symbiosis. We have warped that process of evolution through human, i.e. technological, intervention. The Warp of Symbiogenesis is a weaving collection that translates five stories of invisible interactions around us into textiles. For each type of symbiosis, a different binding is used to symbolise the way species interact with each other. The collection is made from wool and linen sourced in Europe and brings attention to the intimate entanglements we have with beings around us, and they have to each other.
